Robyn Fortescue

masthead

Robyn Fortescu says the choice of Jennie George was an obvious one.
"To the ordinary unionist Jennie is a very important figure - people love her and she's been a big supporter of gay and lesbian workers," Fortescu says.
"She's played a major role in pushing our interests in the broader movement. We'll miss her and this is our way of saying thank you."
If you want to march with the union contingent, meet at the Trades Hall Tavern at 5.30pm on March 4. Wear something red (not a book). For further details contact
Robyn Fortescu on mailto:r.fortescue@bigpond.com
Chant Competition: have you got a better chant that "the workers united will never be defeated"? If you do, email here are you could win a special collectors Mardi Gras T-short
Rights Brochure Launched
Meanwhile, Unions NSW has launched a brochure explaining gay and lesbian right in the workplace.
It involves a guide to the practical steps they can take to organise themselves in the workplace as well as outlining legal rights and contacts.
The brochure will be distributed through NSW workplaces and well as gay and lesbian groups. Call Deirdre Mahoney on 9286 1631 to order copies.

Mardi Gras to Pay Tribute to Jennie

Union participants in the Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras will pay tribute to outgoing ACTU president Jennie George for her contribution to 'industrial glamour'.
Organisers of the trade union float have made a giant effigy of George the centrepiece of their float. She will be surrounded by dozens of beefy blokes in Peter Reith masks.

There aren't many people left who took apprenticeships, but Burnham born Roger trained as a signwriter and moved took Cookham in 1972 when he set up Fine Signs next to Pinder Hall.
It looks so tiny from the front, but appearances are deceiving and the work shop is really quite large turning out all sorts of commercial signs, logos, stainless steel or glass and of course the local event boards and big banners that hang across the High Street.
In the old days everything was hand painted including the sides of cars or pub signs, but nowadays computer technology makes the design work a lot easier.
Roger's four children grew up going to Cookham Rise and Holy Trinity schools and after work he's a walker who enjoys a 5 mile hike to get up an appetite for a bite at Gandhis or the Peking Inn. "To me the Cookham magic is in my friends and the wonderful social activities".

PHILOSOPHY
The club's coaching philosophy is derived from our founding welsh professional coach, Ieuan Gruffydd. The coaching philosophy for the club is firmly based in player development through teaching all soccer skills, quality coaching and appropriate competition. Every team, starting at under-9 thru U-19, has a professional coach that trains the team at least once per week. Skill development is key to player success. We heavily emphasize technique and skills, especially at the young ages. We are the only club that provides, as part of the player fee, skills practices for all ages every night of the week and goalkeeper training. We encourage our player to take advantage of this opportunity. We have a very experienced coaching staff in United, both from the coaching license and coaching experience points of view.

MURDER ON THE CAMPUS

* Leading Role:
Charles Starrett, Diane Clare, Ronald Fortescue
* Director: Michael Winner
* Genre: Horror
* Rating: NR
* Region Code: Region 1: US, CA

Movie Description:

A killer is loose on a college campus in this chilling British murder mystery. When a reporter, Robertson Hare (
Ronald Fortescue), learns that his academic brother has committed suicide, he travels to the Cambridge campus to investigate. Enlisting the help of Mary Johnson (Diane Clare) a professor's daughter whose father is missing and suspected dead, the two slowly unearth clues which indicate that the death was made to look like a suicide. Things grow truly chilling, however, when Hare and Johnson get caught in a lethal game of cat and mouse with the killer. MURDER ON THE CAMPUS showcases Michael Winner's transformation from pulp B-movie director to blockbuster action filmmaker. The quick cuts, the story build-up and release, and the loveable victim, are all present here. When viewing DEATH WISH and comparing, MURDER ON THE CAMPUS is a clear harbinger of Michael Winner's soon-to-emerge fame.
